Study with the experts

Encompass Learning Alliance works with Reading University, St Mary’s University and a collection of local schools in the Wokingham, Bracknell, Ascot and Windsor areas to recruit, train and support Initial Teacher Training through the School Direct route into teaching.

The ITT/School Direct programme is a year long, school based training programme which results in the recommendation for QTS.  Trainees will be based in a local school, supported by a high-quality mentor who will support them throughout the course and will receive training in partnership with the University of Reading or St. Mary’s University, Twickenham depending on the course route you choose.  In addition to this, our local alliance will offer tailored training to meet the needs of trainees on a local level.

Applications will be accepted through the UCAS Teacher Training site (see link below) from the end of October.  For further details, please use the links below or contact Lynne Ringshaw or Sharon Elliott-Walker at St. Francis Catholic Primary on 01344 622840.

Troops to Teachers

As an armed Service leaver, you can bring invaluable skills and experiences to the classroom by training to teach – with the potential for extra funding if you’re a graduate, or the opportunity to apply for a fast-track Troops to Teachers course if you’re yet to gain a degree. And this year, the Troops to Teachers programme is expanding, with two new cohorts of undergraduate trainees starting salaried employment-led teacher training in either September 2015 or 2016.
